Here is a book produced by the Madison Area Community Supported Agriculture Coalition: From Asparagus to Zucchini – A Guide to Cooking Farm-Fresh Seasonal Produce.

Based on the sample pages, it looks like there is some valuable information (practical and philosophical) on making the switch to local/fresh produce; and for each vegetable there is a history and description, cooking tips, storage tips, and recipes. It looks really fabulous to me.

The price is $18.50 (including s&h) for single orders and $13-ish for bulk orders of 10 or more.
