Here is a page with lots of information about radish pods. If you don’t have time to read all of that, the simple description is like snap peas, but with a little zing! I enjoyed them raw in this cold salad:

Millet – about 3 cups cooked
1 lb. ground beef, cooked
 4 green onions
1.5 to 2 cups radish pods
Fresh ginger – about 3 T minced
2-3 T sesame oil
2 T flax seed oil
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
Fresh lime juice, optional

I do this type of salad with many variations (pasta instead of millet, carrots and broccoli, chicken instead of beef, add cilantro, add lime juice, etc.). Normally I consider 4 cloves garlic an integral part of the seasoning, but I forgot the garlic when I used the radish pods. The overall effect was only subtly different in taste, but had the great crunch of radish pods … and without the breath “enhancing” effect of garlic!

How do you like your radish pods?
