This is a great fall dish that utilizes both chard and apples. It only takes a few minutes to prepare, and makes a wonderful side dish.
- 4 oz bacon, finely chopped
- 1 lb Swiss chard
- 1 tart apple, grated
- 1-2 T honey
Remove and dice the colorful stems from the chard. Set aside. Chiffonade the leaves and set aside. In the bottom of a large pan, cook the bacon on medium heat, rendering the fat. Do not drain. Add the stems and apple and cook covered on medium-low heat for 3-4 minutes. Add the leaves and drizzle with honey, tossing to coat. Cover and cook for a few more minutes until leaves are soft. Serve immediately.
