Harvest for June 5, 2012

Welcome back to the heat…  we enjoyed the cool weather while it lasted, helping a former intern put up a high tunnel on his farm in Ava, and planting several hundred feet of sweet potatoes.  We also managed to get several beds tilled and seeded Saturday evening, and the soil was dry enough for just a few hours before the rain watered them again.   Our first greenhouse tomatoes are ripe this week, so we’ll be sending out the very first tomatoes of the season;  probably not many, but at least a couple for whole shares and one or two small ones for half shares.

In today’s share;
Spring greens
Squash/zucchini, mostly from our farm, some supplemented from Dan Bigby at Fassnight Creek Farm
Cucumbers
Tomatoes
Beets
Kohlrabi (the last for a while)
Kale
Collards
Head Lettuce
Green onions
Radishes
Dill
Bell peppers
Mint
Fruit share will be Blackberries
Bread share is Challah
I hope you are enjoying your veggies so far.  If you have any friends who are interested in the CSA, please encourage them to sign up, as we are still a few shares short of our membership capacity for the summer.  Thanks for choosing us to be your farmers.
